Is Monsieur Tick free?
Yes. The whole focus timer, all three methods, your honest history and up to three tasks are free forever, with no ads and no account. Optional Premium (£1.99/month or £14.99/year) adds iCloud sync across your devices, custom profiles, unlimited tasks and history export.
What's the difference between Pomodoro, Deep Work and Flowtime?
Pomodoro runs fixed work-and-break cycles (25 minutes on, 5 off, with a longer break every few rounds). Deep Work is a single long, uninterrupted block. Flowtime counts up while you focus freely, then earns you a proportional break. You can switch method any time — Monsieur keeps them all.
Is this a to-do app or task manager?
No — and deliberately so. The "Study" is a light task list where you jot a few tasks, give each a time estimate, and focus against them so their time is tracked honestly. There are no deadlines, projects, sub-tasks or calendars. If you want a full planner, Monsieur isn't it; that restraint is the point.
Does it need an account or the internet?
Neither. Monsieur Tick is fully offline and works with no account. Everything is stored on your device — the App Store privacy label reads "Data Not Collected."
What platforms does it run on?
iOS 18 or later. It's a native app with a Live Activity, Dynamic Island support and home-screen widgets. There's no Android, Mac or web version today.
How does iCloud sync work, and is my data private?
Premium sync uses your own private iCloud account — there are no Monsieur Tick servers, logins or analytics involved. Your focus history stays yours; nothing is collected or shared. See the privacy policy for details.
Can I keep my history if a session went wrong, or export it?
Yes. History is honest, not rigid: a past session can be reassigned to a task retroactively, and a missed day is never punished with red or a broken streak. Premium can export your full focus history so it's yours to keep.
